The Model, Home of The Niland Collection
The Model is one of Ireland’s most dynamic and innovative centres for the contemporary arts. Situated along the Wild Atlantic Way in the Northwest, it offers global perspectives on art, ideas, culture and identity, through programming that is urgent, experimental and relevant to people’s lives. The Model is a multi-disciplinary space, led by contemporary visual art, with a particular interest in programming that thematically integrates our core disciplines of visual art, music, film and participation. While The Model is an international-facing organisation, we embrace the strong local flavour of our unique position on Ireland’s Northwest coast.
Named after Nora Niland, the visionary County Librarian, The Niland Collection features one of the largest public holdings of work by Jack B Yeats in existence, as well as the work of many other significant artists.
At The Model, we are fiercely committed to what we do because we believe that art being made today has the power to enrich lives, open minds, and to enable us to see the world and one another in new ways.
