Sligo Chamber welcomes launch of free interactive manual by P3.express
Sligo Chamber has welcomed the launch of a free interactive manual, designed to encourage small and medium sized enterprises to learn and use project management skills to increase productivity and efficiency.
The manual was developed by P3.express, the open project management methodology published under a Creative Commons, with support from the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme.
Sligo Chamber was among a number of partners, led by PTCoE, who worked on the development of the manual over the last seven months.
The majority of the strategic activities that SMEs carry out in order to develop their business, expand their market presence or increase their efficiency could be considered as projects. However, in many cases, no project methodologies are used and those involved in leading these projects use intuitive and ad hoc methods that are often inefficient.
“The lack of basic project management skills can have a negative effect on productivity and profitability,” says Geraldine Courtenay, Project Manager at Sligo Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“Fundamental standards such as PRINCE2 and PMBOK Guide are too complex, time-consuming and costly for many SMEs. Learning a light weight and simple project management method such as P3.express can help boost efficiency.”
With the financial support of the European Union’s Erasmus+ program, the consortium wants to educate professionals who are involved in leading project management in SMEs about P3.express in a cost-effective way by providing accessible learning materials.
“It is important that we provide diverse learning opportunities to SMEs,” says Maurits Vandeplas, director of Van Haren Learning Solutions. “Next to the manual the consortium is building a free eLearning course to reach as many people as possible”.
The partners hope to train in more than 15 European countries by 2022.
